From icebergs to palm trees 🌴🧊
So many of you have asked what I’m actually doing out here — so here’s a little explanation coming about my journey “From Greenland to the Pacific 2025”.
I started by joining a conference in the Arctic, supporting local Indigenous companies — proud to represent Greenland and our work back home 🇬🇱
Then came whale watching with local operators, a full month in Tonga swimming and learning about whales, and incredible dives in Fiji with reefs, turtles and sharks 🌊🦈
Soon I’m heading to French Polynesia for more whale encounters with ultrareef_moorea and then finishing the adventure sailing around the islands with med.edith.paa.jordomsejling ⛵️🐠🤿

Honestly, nothing prepared me for this. Just 10 minutes from Ilulissat (Greenland’s third-largest town, btw), we’re out here sailing between these absolutely massive icebergs. Like, you see pictures but being there in person? Completely different. Some of these ice giants are taller than buildings, glowing this insane electric blue, and the only sound is the occasional crack of ice shifting. It’s wild, humbling, and honestly one of the coolest things I’ve ever done. No filter needed when Mother Nature shows off like this.
Fun fact: Ilulissat literally means “icebergs” in Greenlandic, which makes total sense when you see this place. The Ilulissat Icefjord is a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to one of the most active glaciers on the planet. We’re talking over 46 cubic kilometers of ice calving off every year, creating these insane icebergs that float through Disko Bay. It’s not just stunning—it’s also a pretty important place for understanding climate change.

I get asked a lot what sort of set ups do we use in 🇬🇱 for Char. The simple answer is the sweet spot is in the range of single hand rods 9-10ft 6 weight with a fast action and a fighting butt.
Pair it with a dependable reel and good line capacity with plenty of backing and a short head WF floating line that you can add sink tips too or better yet a versi tip line so you can chop and change and keep consistent weight balance.
This year I had the looptackle ZX693 which is 9’3” 6 weight, paired it with the Evotec G5 5/8 and an Opti Stream #6, this covered 90% of my fishing and tbh it’s one of those rigs that just works and you don’t have to think about, you can just focus on the fishing as it casts and handles fish so well!
I’m not one to obsess over gear much but I really do appreciate when things just work with minimal effort or thought. I could happily pick up my back up rod which is the ZX593 a 5 weight version and keep fishing without skipping a beat.

A little Greenland fact that you may not (or already) know: When the sun moves slowly near the horizon at these latitudes, golden hour here can last much longer than usual — sometimes for several hours.
The sun skims the horizon, gilding the ice in amber and rose while the cool Arctic air sharpens every detail.
