A community gathering at Katuaq yesterday served as a setting for exchanging opinions and experiences about tourism in the city.
A number of citizens met with the tourism department of Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq. The current state of tourism in Nuuk was presented, the development and framework within the coalition agreement were outlined, and ideas were discussed.
Tourism has grown in Nuuk. The number of hotel overnight stays in western Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq has more than doubled in five years, according to Statistics Greenland. From 2018 to 2023, the number of annual overnight stays increased from 59,326 to 112,494.
And now we know much more about how we can adapt so that the increase in tourism benefits the residents of Nuuk.

GREENLAND 🇬🇱
On our way back to the hotel in Ilulissat, we stumbled across the tiniest Greenland sled dog pup — a little ball of fluff, almost look like a baby polar bear trying to figure out the world. He was playing hide and seek in the rain, peeking around corners, ducking behind buckets and boxes, then coming out again, clearly enjoying the attention.
the_wanderinglens stayed with me as we knelt there in the drizzle, cameras ready, completely lost in his little game. For a moment, the cold didn’t matter and neither did the rain — we were so drawn into this unexpected Arctic encounter that it made us stop and smile ✨

Prince Christian Sound is one of the most glorious locations we have ever visited! Cheryl snapped all of the images on this post. She artfully captured the many glaciers next to which the captain of the Holland-America Volundam parked. `The water of the sound was salted with icebergs. Jagged mountain peaks rose high above the water to form a narrow canyon-like passage. Within the sound rests a tiny village of about 90 souls populating Aappilattoq, Greenland. We love small rural towns, but this is even small for us! I will post some of my images of Prince Christian soon. GREENLAND 🇬🇱
During my photography tour with the_wanderinglens , we went on an Icefjord cruise — the kind of journey where you hold your breath without even noticing. I was quietly hoping we’d see the red sails, because it had always been a dream of mine.
And then… there they were. Sliding silently across still water touched by the softest rose light.
It felt unreal — like watching a story unfold in slow motion. A moment too beautiful to rush, too rare to forget.
It was so magical that we ended up doing the cruise twice. Because sometimes the Arctic gives you something that stops you in your tracks… and you just have to go back for more ..
