		Wanna join?🧡 My kinda dates…
I try to enjoy every day — no doubt about it. This summer has been all about living on the boat, spending time with friends and taking tourists out on adventures! I love inviting people out for dinner, drinks, a good catch, or simply to enjoy an awesome moment between icebergs and humpbacks ✌🏽
This reel was from a dinner out in the Icefiord with my Irish friend sarahkimwatchorn 🙏🏽🤭

Throwback to summer 2024, moody sky and big Char in the pools. 🎣
Michael here and I spent many days fishing together searching for the 70cm+ fish and we were rewarded with many high 60’s like this one in the photo 😍, but it wasn’t until the final day that Michael cracked it with a 76cm 😮 and we saw many in that league and bigger!
The largest fish that we know of caught at Camp North was just shy of 20lbs 😵 that truly is a dream – once in a lifetime fish that we will hopefully see the likes of again someday. No doubt they are in the river!

Another epic day in East Greenland.
We spent the day hiking and exploring Skillebugt, surrounded by icebergs so massive they made the Ocean Explorer look like a toy. The peaks were dramatic, the light was moody, and cameras were clicking nonstop.
By the end of the day, we were soaking in the jacuzzi, enjoying the silence of the Arctic while icebergs drifted slowly past. Couldn’t think of a better way to end an adventure like this!
Every day is a great day with quarkexpeditions

✨ Experience the magic of the sky dancing above you!✨
The northern lights in Greenland are truly magnificent. 🌌
Long ago, people looked up at the night sky and saw colors dancing across the darkness — waves of green, pink, and violet moving like spirits. These were the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, a breathtaking gift from nature seen in the Arctic skies✨
In Greenlandic legends, the northern lights were believed to be the spirits of ancestors, playing games across the heavens with a walrus scull.
Science tells us the aurora happens when charged particles from the sun meet the Earth’s atmosphere, creating this magical light show. But even with all the science, standing beneath it feels like stepping into a dream — a dance between Earth and sky🤩
To witness the northern lights in Greenland is more than sightseeing — it’s feeling the heartbeat of the Arctic night💚

Nuuk greeted me with fog, which honestly made the whole vibe even more atmospheric. Greenland’s capital has this unique mix of modern city life and rugged Arctic beauty—colorful buildings, Greenlandic flags everywhere (seriously, so much pride here), and even some Palestine solidarity. I walked along the waterfront where chunks of icebergs had washed up on the beach, just casually lying there like it’s normal. The cemeteries here are something else too—large white crosses. It’s a city that feels grounded, real, and unapologetically itself. 🇬🇱
The National Museum of Greenland was definitely a highlight. They’ve got everything from ancient Inuit artifacts and traditional kayaks to the famous Qilakitsoq mummies—500-year-old naturally preserved bodies found in a cave, which is equal parts fascinating and haunting. There’s traditional clothing, hunting tools, and exhibits that walk you through thousands of years of Greenlandic history and culture.
Honestly though? I wouldn’t make Nuuk a specific destination on its own, but if you’ve got a longer layover—even just a few hours on the same day—it’s totally worth stepping out to explore. The museum, the waterfront, the city center—you can hit the highlights pretty easily within 3 hours.

Ilulissat isn’t just about the icebergs—the town itself is absolutely charming. Colorful houses scattered across the rocks, sled dogs chilling everywhere, and this whole laid-back Arctic vibe that just hits different. But the real gem? The boardwalk hike to the icefjord viewpoint. We’re talking an easy walk through the Sermermiut valley, past an ancient Inuit settlement site that’s been around for like 4,000 years. The wooden boardwalk winds through the landscape, and then suddenly—bam. You turn a corner and there’s this absolutely insane view of the icefjord packed with giant icebergs. Worth every step.
Sermermiut is actually a UNESCO heritage site and was home to several Inuit cultures over thousands of years. Walking through here, you’re literally following in the footsteps of the Saqqaq, Dorset, and Thule people who lived off this land. The hike itself is super accessible—only about 1-2 hours round trip depending on how long you stop to stare (which will be a lot, trust me – you can see from the angle of the sun).

So this is literally how icebergs are born—and it’s as dramatic as it sounds. When chunks of ice break off from the glacier and crash into the water, that’s called calving. The Sermeq Kujalleq glacier here moves crazy fast, like 40 meters a day, and all that pressure builds up until boom—the ice just gives way. The sound? Absolutely insane.
And we’re not talking about little ice cubes here. Some of these icebergs are massive—like building-sized massive. Get this: a camera crew actually filmed a calving event where an iceberg the size of Manhattan broke off. MANHATTAN. Once these giants break free, they drift through the fjord toward Disko Bay and eventually the Atlantic. This one glacier pumps out over 10% of all icebergs in Greenland.
