Every time we sail through East Greenland, there’s one silent wish that’s with all of us — to see a polar bear. ⛵️
You can never plan it, never predict it. It’s pure luck, a moment the Arctic decides to gift you.
On our last trip, that wish came true sooner than we could’ve ever imagined. We have been blessed to wake up surrounded by four polar bears on our second day.
Majestic, calm, and impossibly powerful. 😳
Moments like this remind you how small you are out here and how lucky we are to witness wild nature, still untouched.
Some days we’re active and other days we’re just in lazy mode 😴

“For the first time this year, the dogs are camped out across the ice and as they howl in an unsyncronized chorus I can’t help but notice how much their echo is disappearing. This place is becoming louder and yet more anonymising, with the intermittent hum of snow scooters and cars.
I watch them from my bench, and the blue hour is beginning to fade into night. As it does, I can see the lights from scooters all across the fjord making their way home to Uummannaq. It was busy out on the ice today.”
