Eisberg vor der Küste Ostgrönlands 🇬🇱🧊
Diese Aufnahme entstand während einer Bootstour entlang der ostgrönländischen Küste. Hier ragt majestätisch ein Eisberg aus dem Meer, der wahrscheinlich vom grönländischen Inlandeis bzw. von Gletschern stammt, die ins Meer kalben. Das charakteristische Blau entsteht durch stark verdichtetes Gletschereis, das kaum noch Luft enthält.
Solche Eisberge sind sichtbare Zeugen eines rasanten Wandels. Während das Abschmelzen des Inlandeises direkt zum globalen Meeresspiegelanstieg beiträgt, verändert der Rückgang des arktischen Meereises mit seinem Packeis zunehmend die Arktis selbst: Neue, zeitweise eisfreie Schifffahrtsrouten entstehen – mit weitreichenden ökologischen und geopolitischen Folgen.
Wir haben Tasiilaq in Ostgrönland im Sommer besucht, doch auch im Winter zieht der Ort Outdoor-Abenteurer aus aller Welt an. Neben Wanderungen inmitten schneebedeckter Berge und Erkundungen der rauen Natur kann man in dieser abgeschiedenen Stadt in der Arktis auch die Inuit-Kultur erleben, die hier weiterhin tief verwurzelt ist.

Of all the places we’ve visited on our travels, this is probably the one that left the most powerful impression 🇬🇱❄️
The Ilulissat Icefjord is a UNESCO World Heritage site just outside the town of Ilulissat on the west coast of Greenland.
This 60km-long fjord is fed by the Jakobshavn Glacier (Sermeq Kujalleq), one of the most productive glaciers on Earth, which calves more than 20 billion tonnes of ice every year.
The result is a perpetual stream of icebergs floating down the fjord and drifting out into Disko Bay; majestic natural sculptures that take the breath away. Some are pristine white, while others appear almost luminous blue.
The sheer scale of them is mesmerising.
We took a sunset boat cruise with diskolineexplorer, which allowed us to get right up close to the icebergs and even have a cocktail made with freshly cut ice. One of the coolest adventures (in every sense) we’ve been on — an absolute must-do when visiting Ilulissat.
