I am proud to be Greenlandic and Danish.
Proud of my Greenlandic family and roots, just as proud of my Danish family and roots.
Both are part of who I am.
Greenland and Denmark share deep historical, cultural, and family ties. Our lives are connected, our people scattered in both countries, our families are mixed, and our future is shared. I will always work toward a strong and respectful relationship between Greenland and Denmark.
Kalaallit Nunaat is not unclaimed. The name of our country means “the land of the Greenlandic people”.
Greenland belongs to the Greenlandic people.
The United States has no claim here — not historically, not culturally, not morally.

Greenlandic Christmas Tree 🎄
This video is from last year, when I lived and studied in Aarhus, Denmark.
I grew up with a proud Christmas tradition: the Greenlandic Christmas tree (orpiliaq) 🇬🇱
In Greenland, we don’t have trees, and Christmas arrived with Christian Danes in the late 1700s. Wealthier Danish families—mainly priests—had Christmas trees shipped to their homes in Greenland from Denmark, but there were neither the resources nor the money to provide trees for Greenlanders.
So people began building their own Christmas trees, using driftwood that washed up on the shores from Canada. Over time, this became a tradition. Later on, the Christmas tree evolved into one made from a broom handle with pieces of driftwood attached.
Last year, I built my own Christmas tree using a broom handle and branches from a Christmas tree—something I learned from Ataaga ( mygrandfather).
A tradition I am very proud of🎄

După umila noastră părere, cele din Lofoten, Insulele Feroe și Groenlanda ar fi poate printre cele mai cele. Iar dintre acestea, am zice că nimic nu prea are cum să bată peisajele dramatice ale Groenlandei + icebergurile care răsar ici-colo pentru a te mai răcori puțin (de parcă ar mai fi nevoie) și a-ți face priveliștea și mai plăcută (din nou, de parcă ar mai fi fost nevoie). 🇬🇱

There are a few places in the world where we find extremely picturesque soccer fields. In our humble opinion, those in Lofoten, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland are perhaps among the most beautiful. And of these, we would say that nothing can beat the dramatic landscapes of Greenland + the icebergs that pop up here and there to cool you down a little (as if you needed it) and make the view even more enjoyable (again, as if you needed it). 🇬🇱
