🌍🍽️ Viajar a Groenlandia no es solo enfrentarse al hielo y a los paisajes infinitos ❄️, también es descubrir una forma de comer ligada a la supervivencia, la comunidad y el respeto absoluto por el entorno. Nosotros hemos estado allí para contároslo 👍.
En ciudades como Qaqortoq o Nuuk, encontrar cocina tradicional no es tan fácil como parece. Por eso, sentarse a la mesa de una familia inuit es un auténtico privilegio 🏠✨.
🐟 ¿Qué se come en una casa inuit?
La base de la dieta son las proteínas del mar y los guisos calientes:
• Bacalao seco y en conserva
• Trucha ahumada y fletán marinado
• Huevas de lumpo con crema agria
• Ammassat (capelán seco), pequeño pero intenso
• Foca y ballena, en elaboraciones tradicionales como el mattak
🍲 En invierno, el plato estrella es el suaasat, una sopa espesa y reconfortante que se cocina durante horas con carne (foca, ballena o reno), patata, cebolla y cereal. Un plato único pensado para soportar el frío extremo.
🤍 Hospitalidad inuit
Compartir la comida es una forma de cuidar al otro. Si una familia pesca, reparte. Si alguien llega de fuera, se le abre la puerta. Esa idea de comunidad se vive también en la mesa, entre pan casero, bayas del bosque y café groenlandés con licor ☕️.
🍰 El postre suele ser sencillo: bizcocho casero con frutos rojos, poco azúcar y mucho sentido común. Aquí lo importante no es el exceso, sino la energía que aporta.

12 years ago, I was lucky enough to visit Greenland for work.
One thing I remember about that trip was the mention of abandoned US military bases. There were lots of them (between 25 and 30 it turns out). I filed it away as a story idea, or something to mention to friends in the hotel industry once flights became more frequent.
Now that fact is bugging me. If Greenland is so incredibly crucial to US defence, why did they leave all those bases to rust and rot? There’s only one active base left now, at Thule. 🤔
If you get a chance to go to Greenland you should. It’s a magnificent place: raw and rugged in its colossal, otherworldly beauty. Let’s hope it stays that way for generations to come.

During a boat excursion to spot humpback whales in Disko Bay, Greenland, we came across a group of whales hunting among the bay’s icebergs.
All three individuals dove underwater to create a bubble net, trapping the fish, and then suddenly surfaced just 5 meters away from our boat! 🤯
One of the most beautiful sightings of my life!

Durante l’escursione in barca per avvistare le megattere nella Disko Bay in Groenlandia, ci siamo imbattuti in un questo gruppo di balene che cacciavano tra gli iceberg della baia.
Tutti e tre gli esemplari sono andati in immersione per creare la rete di bolle sott’acqua, intrappolando così i pesci ed improvvisamente sono uscite a 5 metri di distanza dalla nostra barca! 🤯
Uno degli avvistamenti più belli della mia vita!
