Up close, glaciers tell a different story.
Not just scale, but texture, colour, and time.
The deep blue cracks reveal compressed ice that can be hundreds – sometimes thousands – of years old. Each ridge, fold and fracture is shaped by slow movement, pressure, melt, and refreeze. Nothing here is random.
✨ Fun fact: The blue colour appears because dense glacier ice absorbs red light and reflects blue – the purer and older the ice, the deeper the blue.
This is Knud Rasmussen Glacier in East Greenland – best experienced slowly, quietly, and with respect.

Glaciers in East Greenland are not static landscapes – they shift, crack and flow, sometimes by several metres a day.
💡 Tip: When visiting glaciers here, always go with a local guide. Ice conditions change constantly, and what looks solid can be fragile beneath the surface.
