Summer in East Greenland ☀️
Midnight sun, quiet fjords, icebergs drifting like sculptures, and hikes where the only sound is the wind and your own footsteps.
This is the wild side of Greenland—raw, peaceful, and unbelievably beautiful.
If you’re dreaming of real adventure, untouched nature, and moments that don’t feel crowded or rushed, East Greenland in summer should be on your list.
Would you travel this far north for a summer like this? 🌍✨

Dog sledding in Greenland is a completely different experience to what you get in Scandinavia.
For starters, the dogs here aren’t huskies; they’re Greenland dogs, a breed only found in East Greenland and north of the Arctic Circle in West Greenland. For this reason, they’re among the purest dog breeds in the world. They are working dogs, not domestic pets, and shouldn’t be approached without permission from their owner.
In Greenland, dog sledding is an integral part of the Inuit way of life, and has long been used as a crucial mode of transport.
Rather than running in pairs in linear fashion, these energetic, tenacious dogs run side-by-side in a fan shape. Tours are available in places such as Ilulissat and Sisimiut, as well as on the east coast, ranging from a couple of hours to multi-day expeditions.
It can feel brutally cold to go dog sledding in temperatures of -30°C (or lower) as we did, but it’s a thrill unlike anything else — and you get to explore unspoilt wilderness landscapes while immersing yourself in Greenlandic cultural heritage.

The kayaking season starts in April. We’re already can’t wait 😍💦 #kayaking #greenland #ilulissat #visitgreenland #exploregreenland
Dear friends in Greenland❤️ Today, we speak as one small neighbour to another. Our islands are different in size and climate, but we are shaped by the same winds and waters.
When the storms are raging, we need to move closer 🇬🇱 🇫🇴
We stand with you in solidarity.
Greenland is your home, and no one should enter it uninvited.
All eyes should be on you because of what you have to offer the world: genuineness, humility, kaffemik, and some of the world’s greatest natural wonders.
Warm thoughts from your friends in the Faroe Islands ❤️

Small houses. Big distances.
Out here, these huts are more than colour in the landscape. During dog sled journeys, they serve as shelters, meeting points, and quiet reminders that people have been navigating this terrain for generations.
💡 Good to know: Many of these houses are used seasonally by hunters and families. They’re not abandoned – just waiting for the right moment.
On a dogsled, even a single house on the horizon feels like a destination.

This was one of the highlights of our time in Ilulissat, and it cost us absolutely nothing…
The Yellow Trail is a 3km-long hiking route that loops around a rocky headland with majestic views looking out across the UNESCO-listed Ilulissat Icefjord and the iceberg-speckled waters of Disko Bay.
Go at sunset, when everything is bathed in a golden glow, and it’s absolutely awe-inspiring. You can start at the southwestern side of town or at the Icefjord Centre, and the whole thing takes around 45 minutes to an hour to complete (depending on how often you stop to marvel at the incredible panoramas). There are some fairly steep sections along the way, but even in winter with lots of snow and ice we had no trouble navigating it despite the brutally cold temperatures.
There’s a small fee to pay when hiking in this area in the summer months, but it’s totally worthwhile. And if you hike clockwise, starting from the Icefjord Centre, Asimut Cafe is the perfect place to finish off with a drink and a bite to eat before wandering down the hill and back into Ilulissat (see our previous reel for more details on this).
