Why I photograph Arctic landscapes.
Because in the Arctic, light is never ordinary.
Snowy mountains, frozen fjords, northern lights, drifting ice, polar silence — everything feels raw, minimal, powerful.
Winter simplifies the world. It removes distractions and reveals texture, contrast, and scale.
Summer brings color, movement, and surreal landscapes shaped by endless light.
As a landscape photographer, I don’t just capture places. I chase light, atmosphere, and the emotional tension between silence and power.

Perché fotografo i paesaggi artici.
Perché nell’Artico la luce non è mai ordinaria.
Montagne innevate, fiordi ghiacciati, aurora boreale, blocchi di ghiaccio alla deriva, silenzio polare — tutto appare essenziale, potente, autentico.
L’inverno semplifica il mondo.Elimina le distrazioni e rivela texture, contrasti e profondità.
L’estate invece porta colore, movimento e paesaggi surreali modellati dalla luce infinita.
Come fotografa di paesaggio, non catturo solo luoghi. Inseguo la luce, l’atmosfera e quella tensione emotiva tra silenzio e forza.

🇬🇱 É stato bellissimo, unico, perfetto, tutto quello che si possa desiderare da un viaggio “once in a lifetime”. Era una vita che volevo andare in Groenlandia, anche perché era l’unico posto in cui non avevo ancora visto l’aurora boreale: 4 notti su 4, con nei sogni. Ma più che delle luci del Nord mi sono innamorato dei posti, delle persone, dei paesaggi, dei villaggi abbandonati, dell spiagge piene di iceberg, dei tramonti e delle albe.
É stato bellissimo realizzare un sogno in mezzo a mille difficoltà, perché per partire c’é voluta tantissima forza di volontà. Il Nord mi ha ripagato per l’ennesima volta. Ora posso dirlo: ho visto l’aurora boreale in ogni posto in cui si può vedere. Il mio posto del cuore appena dopo le Svalbard ❤️

Seen from above, glacial melt turns into branching systems – carrying fine rock dust from the ice, giving the water its milky turquoise colour.
💡 Fun fact: This colour comes from glacial flour – tiny mineral particles ground from bedrock under the glacier. The finer the sediment, the brighter the blue.

Animals of East Greenland 🇬🇱
While exploring Scoresbysund in East Greenland last year, we saw some incredible animals. Arctic Hare, Musk Ox, Polar Bears, The Greenland Dog, whales and Gyrfalcons. I managed to capture shots of a few of them, here are my favorites 📸

Hopefully I’ll capture more of them next trip! We only have three spots left for our 2026 Svalbard to Greenland expedition in July with greatexped, where I’m co-hosting a 14-day sailing expedition across some of the most remote waters on the planet. Our home will be the S/V Linden, a magnificent 50m (150ft) tall ship. No signal, no notifications, no distractions. Just the sound of the wind, the crack of ancient ice, and the massive silence of the high Arctic.

A ovo je 10 najzanimljivijih činjenica o Greenlandu ⬇️
–Greenland je najveći otok na svijetu (koji nije kontinent)
–Ne postoji cestovna mreža koja povezuje naselja. Iz jednog mjesta u drugo ide se avionom, brodom, motornim sanjkama ili psećim zapregama.
–Na sjeveru Greenlanda ljeti vlada ponoćno sunce, dok zimi dolazi do potpune tame. U gradu Qaanaaq sunce zimi ne izlazi gotovo tri mjeseca.
–Većinu stanovništva čine Inuiti. Njihov jezik, kalaallisut, službeni je jezik Greenlanda, a tradicionalni lov i ribolov i dalje su važan dio svakodnevice.
–Greenland je spektakularna lokacija za gledanje polarne svjetlosti – osobito oko grada Ilulissat gdje se aurora reflektira na ledenjacima.
–Greenlandski pas je posebna arktička pasmina prilagođena ekstremnoj hladnoći. U nekim dijelovima zemlje zabranjeno je držati druge pasmine kako bi se očuvala genetika autohtonih pasa.
–Otprilike 80% Greenlanda prekriveno je ledom.
Konkretno, radi se o Grenlandskoj ledenoj ploči, drugoj najvećoj ledenoj masi na svijetu (odmah nakon Antarktike).
–S oko 56.000 stanovnika, jedno je od najrjeđe naseljenih područja na svijetu.
–Greenlandski morski pas najdugovječniji je kralježnjak na svijetu, a može živjeti i do 400 godina. To znači da su neki od tih morskih pasa rođeni još u 17. stoljeću — u vrijeme kada su Europom vladali kraljevi i carevi.
–Cijeli sjeveroistok Greenlanda jedan je golemi nacionalni park. Osnovan 1974., proširen 1988., predstavlja utočište arktičkoj divljini, a za ulazak je potrebno posebno odobrenje vlade Greenlanda.
Riječ je o Northeast Greenland National Park – najvećem nacionalnom parku na svijetu.

“Nothing like discovering Greenland”
Groenlanda e starea de liniste intre linisti. E ca melodiile lui Hans Zimmer.
E unul din locurile in care te simti mic in fata naturii si, paradoxal, mai asezat in propriu-ti sine.
Am lua iar zbor spre Groenlanda pentru fiordurile adanci, unde aisbergurile par ca respira. Pentru calota glaciara – a doua ca marime din lume – si pentru linistea aia care nu seamana cu nimic din ce stim noi. Pentru balenele care apar cand nu te astepti si pentru satele mici, colorate, unde cultura inuit inca se simte vie. Pentru bunatatea pe care am intalnit-o vorbind cu localnicii.
Am merge iar pentru lumina continua din vara, cand soarele nu apune si timpul isi pierde masura. Sau pentru aurora boreala din lunile reci, cand cerul se aprinde si te face sa taci. Nuuk, Ilulissat, Kangerlussuaq, Qeqertarsuaq, Uummannaq si atatea greu de pronuntat si frumoase si crancene dincolo de cuvinte– nume care par departe, dar care te aduc mai aproape de esential.
Nu ajungi usor acolo. Zbori intai spre Copenhaga, apoi cu Air Greenland spre Nuuk sau Ilulissat. Sau alegi varianta prin Islanda, din Reykjavik, si traversezi spre vestul Groenlandei. Nu exista drum simplu. Si noi zicem ca tocmai de aceea merita. Emotiile, asteptarea, uimirea.
Groenlanda nu e despre confort cu cat te aventurrzi mai mult.E despre experienta cruda, si noi inca nu am trait-o asa… cruda pana la capat. E despre natura pura, fara turism de masa. Groenlada este maretie si fragilitate si stoicism. Este razbire in conditii extreme.
Si poate, tocmai de aceea, daca ai deschidere, pleci alt om si de aici.

As snow and ice retreat, the landscape redraws itself. Small streams carve temporary paths through stone, moss, and gravel – fleeting veins that exist for only a few weeks each summer.
💡 Tip: Valleys like this can look dry and solid from a distance, but the ground shifts quickly. Stick to higher lines, move along the edges, and always give the water space.
